After visiting several times myself—on girls' trips, romantic getaways, and family vacations—I’ve gathered tips that will help you make the most of your stay. So whether you're drawn in by the gorgeous white sand beaches or the boutique-lined squares, Rosemary Beach offers the perfect blend of coastal ease and refined charm.

Welcome to Rosemary Beach, Florida

What Makes Rosemary Beach So Special?

Many first-time visitors to 30A don’t even know Rosemary Beach exists—and that’s part of the magic. Nestled between Inlet Beach and Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach is newer in development but rich in character. The town was intentionally designed with walkability and community in mind. You’ll find upscale shopping, gourmet dining, and family-friendly vibes, all within a few blocks. It’s where Charleston charm meets European flair, right on Florida’s Emerald Coast.

A Quick Overview of 30A & How Rosemary Beach Fits In

The area known as 30A refers to a 20-mile stretch of scenic highway between Destin and Panama City Beach. It’s dotted with small beach communities like Seaside, Grayton Beach, and Watersound. Rosemary Beach sits toward the eastern end and is often considered one of the most elegant spots along 30A. It offers a more refined and peaceful vibe compared to larger, more commercialized beach towns.

When to Visit Rosemary Beach Florida

Best Times of Year to Visit

If you're trying to decide when to plan your trip, let me share a few seasons I’ve experienced personally. Late August, when kids head back to school, is a sweet spot—summer weather lingers but the crowds thin out. October is another favorite, with warm water, cooler temps, and minimal humidity. For spring travel, late April is gorgeous, though ocean temps may still be cool. These windows offer the best balance of beautiful weather and smaller crowds.

What to Know About the Crowds & Seasons

Summer months bring the most traffic to 30A, especially around holiday weekends. You’ll want to book lodging early and make dining reservations in advance. If you're traveling with little ones or prefer quieter beaches, shoulder seasons like early fall or late spring will be your best friend.

Staying in Rosemary Beach Florida

Where to Stay in Rosemary Beach

You can’t go wrong staying near the heart of downtown Rosemary. On past trips, I’ve stayed in beautiful vacation homes, including one in the Villages of South Walton (Seacrest Beach), which was a short bike ride to Rosemary. When we’re visiting with a group, we prefer larger rental homes like the Abaco Pearl Carriage House or Linen & Flax Cottage—perfect for families or friend groups who want space to cook, relax, and enjoy time together. But if you’re celebrating something special or planning a couples’ trip, The Pearl Hotel is a must. This luxurious boutique hotel is right in the center of it all, with spa services, rooftop dining, and private beach access.

What to Know About Beach Access

This is important: most of the beaches in Rosemary are private, meaning you’ll need deeded access through your rental or hotel. Public beach access is only available at Inlet Beach or Santa Rosa, which are at opposite ends of 30A. When booking your stay, make sure you’re clear on whether or not you’ll have private beach access—it makes all the difference. Rentals often include wristbands or codes for entry, and many of the higher-end homes provide beach gear and bikes, too.

Getting Around Rosemary Beach

Why Biking Is the Best Way to Explore

One of the best things about staying in Rosemary Beach Florida is that everything is close enough to bike or walk. Most of the communities on 30A were designed to be walkable, so you’ll rarely need your car. On our trips, we’ve rented bikes from Salt Air and Bamboo Bicycle Company—both offer delivery and pickup service. It's also common for rentals to include complimentary bikes, so double-check before renting!

Walking Distance to Shops, Dining & the Beach

From wherever you're staying, chances are you’re only a few minutes from everything. We loved being able to walk to Playa Bowls in the morning, shop at local boutiques in the afternoon, and grab drinks at Havana Beach Bar by sunset—all without moving the car.

The food scene in Rosemary Beach is refined but casual. Some of our favorites include:

Nearby Pescado in downtown Rosemary is also a popular spot with stunning views. We split several small plates and enjoyed dessert under string lights—definitely one of our favorite nights.

Where to Go for Breakfast, Coffee & Treats

Start your morning at Playa Bowls or Black Bear Bread Co. (get the egg & cheese biscuit!). If you venture into Alys Beach, Fonville Press serves amazing breakfast options and even has a bar. You’ll find pastries, fresh juices, and strong coffee all within biking distance.

Dining in Nearby Alys Beach & Seaside

We always make time to dine in Alys Beach at The Citizen—don’t miss their oyster happy hour! For cocktails and snacks, Neat is an elevated bar and bottle shop with a rotating menu. In Seaside, we recommend Bud & Alley’s, The Meltdown on 30A, and Great Southern Café—great for lunch, sunset views, or a casual night out.

Things to Do in Rosemary Beach Florida

Relaxation & Wellness

Want to unwind? The Pearl Spa offers luxe treatments (like the Tropical Bliss body scrub + massage) and pool access for spa guests. If you're visiting with friends, note that it only has two treatment rooms—so plan ahead if booking for a group. We also loved grabbing charcuterie boxes from Graze 30A, taking them to the beach with drinks, and enjoying a sunset picnic.
